So I guess people laugh when you tell them what your name is now…

Hey ladies! What in the world is going on lately? Just the other day, I was eating at Chili’s. The service was absolutely awful! My Diet Coke was 2/3rds the way empty for like 25 minutes before our waiter came around. Then when he brought me my steak, it was NOT medium well like I asked. I could almost hear the cries of the cow as it was led to slaughter it was so rare.

Not being one to let my hard-earned dollar go to waste, I asked to see the manager! Our waiter looked concerned, and asked me “was there something wrong ma’am?” Was something wrong? Everything was wrong! But I gained my composure and simply said, “If nothing being right is “something wrong”, then yes there was!” He relented and said, “my apologies. Can I have your name, and my manager will be right over?”

“My name is Karen Schmid…”

Before I even got my whole name out, he was laughing hysterically. Then he just walked off! Can you believe that! The manger then came over and said, “my waiter told there is something wrong, Karen?” Then when I began to tell him, he too started laughing hysterically and walked away!

Something similar happened at the grocery store too! They were trying to tell me that they no longer price match with Walmart. I thought that it was ridiculous that they would make such a radical change without telling customers! So I said something about it. The manager seemed to really listen to my concerns at first, and was even writing a report to “share with upper management”. When he finished his report said, “Excuse me for asking, but can I get your name and number so we can contact you with more questions?”

So I gave him what he asked for. I said “Yes. It is Karen Schmidt. That is Karen with a K. My number is 456-43….” You know what happened next. He started laughing hysterically. And guess what? No one called me back!

Can someone please tell me what is going on? Is this some sort of new joke? Is it funny to take a person’s complaint, and then to laugh when you tell them your name? Is this all a joke to them? I personally don’t think it is funny in the least! It is rude and someone should really do something about this!

But the joke is on them! Let’s see how many people want to go to Chili’s after they read my Yelp review! Yeah, I went there so good luck! No one disrespects Karen Schmidt and gets away with it Scot-free! Both them and the grocery store get 2 stars, so suck on that!
